Sorry to go OT, but do you still do and/or in the field of air traffic safety/regulation?

Can you, in brief, tell me how you got into that line of work? What it took? Qualifications? Been an amateur NTSB worker, want to go pro.

I graduated with a bachelors in aerospace engineering, but if it’s an option, your best bet is to become a pilot or mechanic, preferably for the military.

D’oh on military but pilot almost so thumbs up. I come from as does my wife aerospace and somehow finding some sense of closure in accident reporting comforting/helping making travel safer. I’ll explore more. Thanks for your reply FS! Truly appreciate it!

If you’re already becoming a pilot and are working in aerospace, then the best thing you can do is just keep working and volunteer for any investigation-related thing. Some people get their start by investigating things such as accounting and equal-opportunity hiring practices in their organizations.
Time is on your side though, probably. If I recall correctly, the average age of a newly-hired NTSB investigator is in the mid-50s.

I got some years then, but not that many. Thanks for the tip.
Helped to work three scenes that weren’t too horrific, one an A300FR. My fear would be having to work something like what transpired 29 years ago, Flight 255 . The dead don’t bother me, how they die however can. May be better suited for a desk job analyzing data.
Thanks for your help/tips. I’ll do a little investigating (avoiding puns here) and see what careers and needs there are. Thanks!
